Speed it up now!
As I mentioned in the last post, Sunday we hit up Warped Tour in Minnesota and, while it was an amazing show, I was a little disappointed that Say Anything was unable to perform. Max was sick. Max was also sick for the Chicago show, but they got a little something we didn’t. Like Justin from Motion City Soundtrack singing Alive with the Glory of Love. Check out the video below and look around on youtube for other guest appearances from singers from Reliant K, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die & more.
Back from Chicagoland
Cath…
She stands with a well intentioned man
But she can’t relax with his hands on the small of her back
As the flashbulbs burst she holds a smile
Like someone would hold a crying child
I am back - finally. It was a good weekend but it’s not easy to sleep on a six-foot long bed when you’re 6′5″ so, obviously, I’m glad to be back to my own. My aunt took some really neat photos and some decent videos while in Africa that hopefully she’ll upload as the week progresses. I’ll pop a link up when I get word. They brought back several shotglasses for me from each of the areas they went to, so I’m pretty psyched.
They also had several interesting stories which I might post if I get one or two in text form. I know they had kind of a crazy trip at times. The pictures I’ve looked at are amazing, way better than my crappy zoo photos I posted on facebook.
Although I’m jealous I didn’t get to go to Africa, we had lots of fun in Chicago. We hit the Woodfield mall in Shaumberg, the Brookfield Zoo, and Ed Debevic’s, which is always fun.
Remember, new Death Cab album is out TODAY. Now I’ve got to jet.
Soon everybody will ask what became of you
Your heart was dying fast and you didn’t know what to do
Cath…
It seems that you live in someone else’s dream
In a hand-me-down wedding dress
With the things that could have been are repressed
But you said your vows and you closed the door
On so many men who would have loved you more
Soon everybody will ask what became of you
Your heart was dying fast and you didn’t know what to do
The whispers that it won’t last roll up and down the pews
And if our hearts were dying that fast, they would have done the same as you
I’d have done the same as you
Heading to Chitown
Ahh Chicago. I love getting away from rural Iowa occasionally. I’m leaving Friday afternoon for Chicago until late Sunday with some family to pick up other family from the airport that have been in Africa for the past couple weeks.
I probably won’t post much until I get back - so let me leave you with some final thoughts for the week. There are two ad spots on the site now. They’re pretty small and don’t get in the way of much so don’t get all grumpy face. They’re more of an experimentation than anything else; to see whether the site could support itself.
Nine Inch Nails have released the studio-length album The Slip for free, with Trent Reznor saying “this one’s on me” via the NIN website. Apparently you can be successful and generous at the same time. I’m impressed by what this band is doing and I’m going to probably start a write up of my opinions and recommendations for bands you should check out that understand where the music industry is heading while I’m in Chicago. I’m going to try and get that out by next week.
Speaking of which, in addition to The Slip being on my iPod during the car ride to Chicago, Narrow Stairs is still on repeat every couple of hours. Yeah, I’m that ridiculously into it. Keep in mind Death Cab for Cutie’s latest is out on the 12th. No, it’s not free, but at least it’s worth spending the cash on.
And I’ll leave you with this. . .
