MGO: Premier Beta

It’s an amazing day outside, pretty windy but a nice 70 degrees out, which is the nicest day we’ve had this spring thus far I’m pretty sure. The week’s been pretty nice in general, although we’re supposed to get some rain showers the rest of the week until Sunday when it warms up again.

The only huge down side for me? I’m sick. I’ve had a cold since Monday night and it’s wrecking me.

That hasn’t prevented me, luckily enough, to get some pictures of the new Metal Gear Online Premier Beta. No game-play yet, as the servers don’t go live until the 21st. Check the jump for more pictures those of you who didn’t get in on the beta might be missing. I’ll post my gamer id for those of you who did get in in case you care to join.

Snake? SNAKE?! SNAAAAAKE!!

Well, I had initially preordered Metal Gear Solid 4 hoping to get into the Metal Gear Online beta coming the 21st. . . Unfortunately I was disappointed to learn that since I preordered online and decided to receive Metal Gear Solid 4 via mail, I would not be getting into the MGO beta as you had to preorder in-store to qualify.

Until today that is.

Fill out the following form here for a chance to get a MGO Beta voucher code redeemable on the 17th. I filled it out and immediately received an email containing the voucher code. Hurry, this won’t last forever

WiiSixty?

This is a joke, right?

Wii60The Xbox 360 may be getting its own take on the Wii remote later this year, reports MTV News, with Microsoft said to have been knee deep in “X-remote” development since Summer of 2007. MTV cites an anonymous developer who alleges that a motion-sensitive controller is being developed alongside a Mii-like avatar system with the input of developer Rare, who is said to be late on delivering a “unified interface and look for the controller.”

The unnamed source provided MTV with a sketch, which our hasty mock up to the left is based on.

New places to pwn n00bz, yo!

Mmm. . . Call of Duty 4. How you satisfy my thirst for destroying some faces in the intertubez. The map pack that recently went out on the Xbox 360 marketplace will in fact find it’s way onto Sony’s Playstation Store soon. How soon? Well, definately not before the current two week rehaul of the PSN is done, but it’s nice to be thought of for a change.

Meanwhile, we’ve been preparing for the launch of the new maps on the PS3 as well via PSN. So we should have details on that in the near future (hopefully next week). I’m in the process of setting up some Play with the Devs games as well as looking into other similar things we can just like the launch of the map packs on Xbox 360. Please don’t feel ignored if every platform isn’t mentioned in each post, a lot goes into every release (especially something as big as a map pack release), so typically when I post I’m focused at the subject at hand specifically.

Luckily though it’s getting to that time for the PS3 to be the focus for a while with the launch of the Game of the Year Edition on PS3, the Variety Map Pack hitting PSN, and setting up some launch weekend events for you guys when the maps hit.

As I said we are getting close to having official details on exact release dates and info on the GOTY Edition for PS3 hitting stores worldwide, as well as when you can expect the Map Pack to be up on PSN for download. That’s my main focus for next week.
