Bring That Beat Back To Me Again
After tomorrow is over I’ll officially have had my first week back to school. I’m taking 16 credit-hours total which is an okay load for this semester. I have classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday which allows for some downtime. That’s about how often I went to high school too. . . Ba-da-tish. . .
Recently LeRoi Moore passed away. He was the saxophonist/wind instrumentalist for Dave Matthews Band and an amazing musician. I’m really bummed that I never got a chance to see one of my favorite bands before they lost such an important member of the original lineup that had lasted so many years. Hopefully they’ll be able to find someone who can step into his shoes, although I’m sure it will be extremely tough.
Anyways - between class days and getting back into the groove of education, I’ve been watching the Democratic National Convention coverage on MSNBC. Michelle Obama kicked it off with an amazing speech and Hillary did well too, but man - what an amazing speaker Bill Clinton is. We need another leader that knows what they’re doing and how to lead. You see, it’s not entirely about “government” experience. It’s important, but it’s not as vital as just having someone who’s a natural leader. Biden hit it out of the park as well. I can’t wait for Obama’s nomination acceptance speech tonight.
I know, I know. This is just a circus show. Nothing actually gets done at these conventions. They’re just pop and flare. I don’t care what you think, everytime Obama speaks, he’s proving something. Proving that he deserves to be where he is. Proving that he deserves to go where he’s heading, all the way to the white house. He’s gaining an even bigger following and it is critical.
Anyways, that’s my latest. Back to work on the site and then time to do some psych homework. Yay?
@MarsPhoenix Twitters pretty nifty, eh?
I just finished reading this article on NYtimes.com about the Phoenix lander and the team using twitter to answer questions for the public and keep kind of a public relations mini-blog. Pretty freakin’ cool.
I’ve been using Twitter since around June of 2007 I think, and while it’d be more useful in a bigger town for the mobile services, it’s pretty neat in general. You can check my updates here.
How cool would this be in the class room? Imagine you’re in an elementary or junior high science class and your science teacher is pretty knowledgeable of the web. He creates a MrSmithsClass twitter account for use in the class room where students can ask him questions about homework or he can post assignments or extra credit work.
Now imagine he tells you that you can ask him questions about the Phoenix lander. He makes a list of the top 10/20/whatever questions his students asked and asks @MarsPhoenix, who proceeds to answer questions. It may be through the internet but that’s an opportunity for young minds in the middle of no where to ask real questions and communicate with an actual NASA team.
Maybe I’m just a geek, but I think that sounds amazing.
I haven’t been this scared in a long time.
Hello. My name is Hayley. I’ll be your tour guide for this particular post. Please keep your hands, feet, objects and unkind words inside the post and to yourself at all times. (Or whatever they used to tell me in elementary school. I always felt that ‘objects’ was code for ‘penis’.) So do that too. Keep your penis inside the post until the post has come to a complete stop. Thank you.
After that lovely intro, why don’t I tell you a bit about myself and how I came to be on postblink. Well, we can skip that crap about me because we know you don’t want to hear it. At least not now. How I came to be, you ask? It’s easy. When you date the creator’s best friend, you get the hookup. Thus, my writing here begins. Which is actually convenient for me. Because….see, I lied to you all already. I am going to tell you about me. Ready?
