It’s nothing like in the movies

It’s much worse.

This past Sunday a Tornado ripped across the Midwest, doing probably the most damage in Iowa and causing the most fatalities in Parkersburg. Luckily we only dealt with high winds and hail at our house, as most of the storm ended up a few miles further to the north. I have some family in Dunkerton that had some landscape damage to deal with and my parents took some pictures when they went out there.

You can view them at http://lucasj.net/weather.

There’s also a community group for Parkersburg on Facebook with several more photos showing what they’ve had to deal with as far as home and business damage. Aplinton-Parkersburg will not be finishing what would have been their final week of school this week. You can check out that support group with more information here.

About Lucas

I'm a 22 year old writer-wanna-be from Iowa. After starting my first hobby site in 2004 and dabbling in web design and development, I registered Postblink.com in late 2006 to share my love (and hatred) for different aspects of all kinds of music. The site still serves that purpose, in addition to my thoughts on life and different events happening in my life.

Yeah, my roommate is a professional photographer and the five-oh wouldn’t even let him in the city afterwards. Additionally, my boss (from P-burg) says she has no severe damage to her house but the house across the street is gone and almost no one has power or water. There is a lot of anhydrous amonia leaking from damaged farm equipment.
