WiiSixty?

This is a joke, right?

Wii60The Xbox 360 may be getting its own take on the Wii remote later this year, reports MTV News, with Microsoft said to have been knee deep in “X-remote” development since Summer of 2007. MTV cites an anonymous developer who alleges that a motion-sensitive controller is being developed alongside a Mii-like avatar system with the input of developer Rare, who is said to be late on delivering a “unified interface and look for the controller.”

The unnamed source provided MTV with a sketch, which our hasty mock up to the left is based on.

About Lucas

I'm a 22 year old writer-wanna-be from Iowa. After starting my first hobby site in 2004 and dabbling in web design and development, I registered Postblink.com in late 2006 to share my love (and hatred) for different aspects of all kinds of music. The site still serves that purpose, in addition to my thoughts on life and different events happening in my life.

Is tha source anonymous because they know Wii is going to bust their asses for copying them? :-]

I dunno – supposedly we’ll find out this fall.

I can’t imagine Nintendo just letting this happen, but I also can’t see it help the 360 compete with either the Wii or the PS3. Games are the competition between the 360 and PS3 right now, which the 360 is unfortunately (for me) winning. The games are also a factor in a different way for the Wii. . .

This won’t do anything for the 360 but make it look like it’s finally trying to knock off motion controls which it failed to do anything with this generation. Sure, some studios might port Wii games over – but I doubt any of the big players will.

The standings in this generation thus far, in my opinion, are as follows:

Wii: Complete innovation, fun party game. (ie: Get drunk, play, profit)
PS3: Strongest hardware potentional, motion sensor but not a complete rip off.(Love)
360: Too late for motion, lost format war, still has most amount of games. (Until ’08 ;) )
