The Hawkeye State

Attention brings with it not only positives but negatives. A bit of online reading will present you with this and Iowa has been receiving it’s share of attention for the past 48 hours.

Today I was reading an article on Digg ranting about how Iowa & New Hampshire shouldn’t be the first two states deciding such important matters in the upcoming election for various reason like how we’re a dumb “backwater” state from the south. You know, despite being a state away from the Canadian border and all. Basically you have to let these comments roll off, but I would like to present the following point made in the comment section of that specific Digg article.

“I’m white but it is messed up that a state that is 94 percent white or close to it is having this much influence. It’s just not representative.”

- halobender

“And the majority of the democrats there voted for a black man. What does that tell you?”

- Packgrog

Point. Game. Match.

Just because a group people living in an area happen to be largly white (91%, actually…) doesn’t mean they’re a bunch of cross burning idiots wearing sheets. . . Obama pulled through last night and I think he’s the right guy for the job. On to New Hampshire.

About Lucas

I'm a 22 year old writer-wanna-be from Iowa. After starting my first hobby site in 2004 and dabbling in web design and development, I registered Postblink.com in late 2006 to share my love (and hatred) for different aspects of all kinds of music. The site still serves that purpose, in addition to my thoughts on life and different events happening in my life.
