Konfusion. Well, A Lack There-Of…

Once again I find myself listening to the impressive piano rock & lyrical value of Konstantine by Something Corporate thinking about the future.

My previous two posts have been about the past. Mark Hoppus has finally told his side of the story on the blink-182 split, which seems much more genuine than Tom’s banter of nothingness when asked about the incident. I had posted both interviews in their entirety without giving my opinion on the matter, so here it is.

I got in to the blink-182 game a bit late. That’s not to say I’m too young to have heard their music when it debuted. It was geared towards my demographic. But as I’ve said in entries in the past, I disregarded it as raw pop-punk that I wouldn’t like. Well, it was raw pop-punk, but I’ve gained a major appreciation for it. Most of that’s because of Mark’s deep lyrics, Tom’s incrediably simple but catchy and awesome melodic guitar parts, and Travis’ crazy percussion style.

See, just one of those attributes by itself didn’t make the band. And that’s what Tom forgot. He threw out a lame scapegoat about staying home with family, had his manager start a big fight (because Tom’s was apparently not able to face Mark and Travis, as he changed his phone number), but then proceeded recording the Angels & Airwaves album and touring it, which, despite having a group name, is basically a solo project.

Mark and Travis didn’t come out and start talking shit. They stayed out of the media’s eye as much as possible, recording Plus 44′s (Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, Shane Ghallagher, Craig Fairbaugh) debut album along with two friends. They didn’t begin promising a record that would change people’s lives. It will probably, knowing how great of a song writer Mark has been in the past and how amazing Travis is at his craft, be an amazing album. But they don’t need to say that. They can let the music speak for itself.

The whole thing is just upsetting.

Anyways, back at Small Town, Heartland, I’ve finally got great news. After a bit of a depressing slump following the Farmer’s Day show, things have been sorted out. Very excited things are happening around here, but I can’t say too much right now. I’ll just say we’ve been tossing around some very exciting ideas and goals. Until next time…

About Lucas

I'm a 22 year old writer-wanna-be from Iowa. After starting my first hobby site in 2004 and dabbling in web design and development, I registered Postblink.com in late 2006 to share my love (and hatred) for different aspects of all kinds of music. The site still serves that purpose, in addition to my thoughts on life and different events happening in my life.
